New Way to Capture Stranded Natural Gas Adapted from a Press Release by Edge Gathering Virtual Pipelines 2 LLC Edge Gathering Virtual Pipelines 2 LLC specializes in delivering low-cost, high-quality liquefied natural gas (LNG) by converting stranded and flared natural gas. The compa- ny recently produced and delivered its first LNG in the United States. To date, more than 30,000 gallons of LNG from a Marcellus Shale project in Pennsylvania has been delivered to a location more than 300 miles away in New England. The system uses a transportable Cryobox™ made by Galileo Global Technologies. Using the LNG production and liq- uefaction equipment at the production site, the company is able to deliver LNG directly to customers without using costly pipelines. The cryobox units fit on a standard 40-foot tractor trailer and is designed to be quickly and easily connected and disconnected from feedstock gas wells. The units are also self-powered using produced gas, eliminating the need for a grid connection. This process al lows gas and oi l projects to capture and utilize stranded gas reserves, rather than flaring or venting. For LNG buyers, this opens up a new source of high-quality, low-cost LNG which can be delivered anywhere. By utilizing otherwise wasted gas while avoiding pipeline costs, the company is hoping to become one of the most com- petitive suppl iers of truck-del ivered LNG worldwide. The technology, developed and proven in Argentina, is suitable for use anywhere in the world where stranded, flared, or vented gas is an issue.
