A Virtual ExperienceYouWon’t Want to Miss Adapted from a Press Release by Messe München One of the highlights of bauma 2019 is bound to be the virtual and augmented reality area called the VR Experience. Thanks to this digital innovation, users can experience virtual construction sites and be part of the action. It is not just an experience with deceptively real sensations, it is also a valuable tool which can be used to present products in a completely new way. “With our digital construction site, we have created a platform that enables exhibitors’ products to be experienced not only at the actual exhibition stand but in any location. We offer the virtual exhibition space within a VR Experience. For the first time, com- panies at bauma 2019 will be able to present themselves completely digitally,” said Mareile Kästner, bauma exhibition director. More than just entertainment, the VR Experience is opening up completely new possibilities for planning and development, as well as training and sales. “Anyone wanting to train their apprentices under realistic conditions - in machine maintenance, for example - or looking to explain the inner workings of a crane to the customer, no longer has to even leave the site,” explained Kästner. Several companies are taking full advantage of the experience including Doka Group, a company which works with form- work in compact spaces. The company plans to highlight different jobsite scenarios. “Doka is represented at the Messe München VR Experience as it highlights Doka’s problem-solving expertise from different perspectives and allows it to be ex- perienced. A highrise model embedded in VR shows clearly what extensive know-how is required to make the construction process fast, safe, and optimized. Doka has demonstrated the formwork expertise required in more than 1000 highrise projects. Virtual reality allows visitors to understand the complex[ity] of issues in the smallest of spaces,” said Gottfried Bühringer, head of digital marketing at Doka. Protection and safety manufacturer, uvex plans to utilize the revolutionary format to focus on safety. Tobias Hawelka, marketing coordinator at uvex explained, “For the first time, as part of the VR Experience at bauma 2019, the uvex safety group is also giving all visitors the opportunity to experience selected products in step with the digital transformation. By enter- ing a construction site virtually with the safety equipment that would also be required in real life, the visitor is given a unique experience and a deep insight into this exciting virtual world.” With the bauma VR Experience, it is not simply about incorporating a digi- tal format into the classic trade fair busi- ness. “It definitely gets emotional! It will be an unforgettable experience, espe- cial ly when the surface of the earth opens and the elevator takes the visitor to lofty heights,” claimed Kästner. Make plans to check out the VR Experience in Munich, Germany, April 8-14, at bauma 2019 in hall B0. Visit www.bauma.de for more information. 33 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® MARCH 2019 C&G
