The “Idiots” Corner by “Billy Bob Smith” New Year’s Resolution or Just Stupid Stuff As we start a new year, so many people create lists of do’s and don’ts and New Year’s (you know what). I thought it would be appropriate to share a few of the things I have observed this past year in terms of how some idiots - feel, think, act, decide, and believe. Here are just a few really dumb things people do or say each year: 1 Quitting and giving up. 1 Expecting everyone you meet will like you is dumb. 1 Believing your every decision will work out well or successful. 1 Tailgating at 70 miles per hour and expecting to never get in an accident. 1 Saying nothing but nasty things about others and wondering why you don’t have a lot of friends. 1 Acting like you are always the smartest person in the room. 1 Praying for stuff and then just waiting and doing nothing. 1 Haven’t read a book in years, never attended a seminar, and wondering why you are not getting a raise or promotion. 1 Going through life with no goals, no plans, and no ambition. 1 Acting like the world owes you just because you come from a special set of circumstances. 1 Every day - smoking two packs of cigarettes, drinking a six-pack of beer, and chowing down on a few thousand calories a day and wondering why you have health problems. 1 Living every day worrying about everything, fearing anything, and your doctor says you have physical conse- quences of stress. Go figure! Want more??? Got a few of your own??? Okay, just a couple that might make you laugh or at least smile: 1 Spending more time on your cell phone than talking to your spouse or kids. 1 Treating employees like crap and wondering why you have high turnover. 1 Gouging customers and can’t under- stand why they go to another source. 1 Not marketing or promoting your business in any way and at a loss as to why you are losing market share. 1 The last time you exercised was when you were in high school and can’t figure out why you are 30 pounds overweight.
