Mine Improvements Lead to Cost Savings Adapted from Information by Northern Vertex Mining Corp. Northern Vertex mining Corp. continues to imple- ment improvements in several areas at their open-pit moss Gold mine in northwestern Arizona. A portable crusher was brought in for a five-week period to eliminate the stockpile of oversized material. Up to 1800 contained ounces of gold and 31,500 con- tained ounces of silver were estimated to be added to the leach pad. The company also hired m.C. Donegan, llC drilling and blasting contractor to reduce the amount of oversized rock being generated from mining activities going forward. Fragmentation has been excellent and the oversized material has been significantly reduced, which increases crusher throughput and there- fore ounces to the pad. From an expected 29-hole reverse circulation drill program, 25 boreholes have been completed, totaling over 14,000 feet. The infill drill program is being conducted to confirm grades and potentially extend the boundaries of mineralization. The production time line was adjusted following a heap leach and stacking plan based on monthly column leach tests. The primary leach cycle now yields 60% recovery for gold within 45 days versus the feasibility time line of 150 days; whereas the secondary leach cycle is estimated to recover over 82% of the gold within 120 days versus the feasibility estimate of 240 days. This means production of more ounces in less time. Better conservation and operational practices have allowed the mine to become self-sufficient, eliminating the need to truck water to the site. Also, a new well was brought online as a buffer against any demand growth beyond the current planning period, providing the ability to rest and recharge the wells. The company also continues to advance discussion with mohave Electric for construction of a power line to the moss site. Once completed, the available power should reduce diesel emission by up to 90% and provide sig- nificant cost savings.
