The “Idiots” Corner by “Billy Bob Smith” I have often wondered, if I could go back in time and interview famous people about what’s going on in today’s world, what they would say. I know it’s not possible, so I chatted with one of my well-re-spected, long-time female friends and asked her about this idea. Her response was not a surprise. She said, “That’s why many women are smarter than some men, and the smartest men listen to the smart women in their life.” So I said, “Okay, that’s why I’m asking you. What do you think?” She replied, “Just make sure you include women, men, young people, old folks, well-educated people, and a few dumb folks too in your list of interviewees.” Now that I have my marching orders, here are the two questions I asked: 1.) Why do you think we are where we are in society today? 2.) And how do we regain some degree of normalcy? Some of their answers were not necessarily on track with my questions, but when you are famous you can respond any way you want - even if you don’t answer the question. I could go on with many more folks, but you have better things to do. Red Skelton Annie Oakley 1: I get some of my best material from idiots. 1: Most idiots don’t have a clue they are so stupid. 2: If we had fewer idiots, we would have fewer comedians. 2: Make all the idiots work on the ranch for a year. Thomas Edison 1: Thanks to most of the idiots in the world, most of my inventions have been successful. 2: Give the idiots more money. Ben Franklin 1: Idiots never take responsibility for their mistakes or dumb actions. 2: Require idiots to have to stay in school until they can read, think, and act normal. Nicodemus 1: Stupid people have been here since the beginning of time. 2: They will be with us forever, so we just need to learn how to control them. Winston Churchill 1: We give idiots too much freedom to act like idiots, with no consequences. 2: Put all the idiots in chains.
