Zion Oil & Gas, Inc., based in Dallas, Texas, explores for gas and oil onshore on their 99,000-acre Megiddo-Jezreel license gas and oil necessary to help Israel maintain their political and economic independence. Following Brown’s vision, Zion recently announced plans for the Megiddo-Jezreel #2 (MJ02) well at their current location near Bet She’an. The drilling rig and equipment departed from Constanta, Romania, and arrived at the port of Haifa, Israel, about a week later. Following customs clearance and satisfying certain protocols required by Israel, an aggressive drilling schedule is planned for the MJ02 well location. The rig crew, assembled from Eastern Europe, has been with the Zion drilling rig (named “I-35”) for several years before the company bought it in March 2020. Having taken an intensive Israeli-required safety training course on working with and moving heavy equipment, as well as working from heights, they have begun the job. Zion also hired 12 Israelis to train and gain experience, to move toward an Israeli crew supporting future drilling operations. The conductor pipe was set to a depth of 110 feet, and the cellar was completed in preparation for acceptance testing and spudding. Arrangements for essential services for directional drilling, mudlogging, wireline/logging, and cementing were finalized. According to the lease agreement, the crew completed a water well monitoring program lasting approximately 14 days before proceeding with the well.
