HDD has been successfully used in connection of wind power plants and wind turbines, cabling from land to offshore wind power plants, and cabling from the wind turbines to distribution stations. Though wind farm turbines tower above the earth and sea, the unseen, buried cables are also a vital component of the energy collection and distribution process. Successful transmission of wind-farm-harnessed electricity to the main power grid, and ultimately, to businesses and homes, would not be possible without the unsung heroes of horizontal directional drilling.
