WorldWide Drilling Resource

34 OCTOBER 2021 WorldWide Drilling Resource® Three Benefits of Cobra Mini Piling Rigs Adapted from Information by Araminta Bos-Rich, Marketing Coordinator, Piling Equipment Ltd Piling Equipment Ltd is a manufacturer and supplier of new and refurbished piling rigs and foundation drilling equipment. As an international company, they are known for their in-depth industry knowledge, on-site experience, and impressive range of machinery, including an assortment of innovative mini piling rigs. It is no secret the piling industry is constantly evolving to meet the demands of consumers and overcome the pressures of everyday construction challenges and building restrictions. To conquer these challenges, the company provides an array of piling rigs and drilling equipment, including their highly coveted Cobra mini rigs. Over the past few years, Piling Equipment Ltd has produced an array of durable, powerful, compact machines including two variants within the Cobra range, the mini SFA (sectional flight auger)/rotary and a drop hammer machine. Three key advantages to the Cobra mini piling rigs include: Easy access to restricted sites - More often than not, successfully accessing and working on restricted sites with a larger piling rig can be difficult. Sites with limited access or confined workspaces, such as basements, can pose a host of problems for operators. From the initial on-site delivery of machinery, to physical limitations such as height and weight restrictions of a larger rig; using traditional methods of foundation drilling may not always be possible. Mini piling methods may be the solution. Due to their overall compact structure and small footprint, Cobra mini rigs are able to easily access challenging sites such as home extensions and basement excavation projects, which may not have otherwise been possible to undertake with a larger, less maneuverable rig. Mini piling enables contractors to work on a multitude of projects without potential disruptions or problems. Ability to work in adverse conditions - When working on a site with potentially unfavorable ground conditions, larger rigs or traditional piling methods may not always be the most practical or ideal solution. Cobra mini rigs are an ideal choice for sites with unstable land, due to their low weight and compact structure. They can also be used as a replacement for traditional footings for new build houses and similar structures. Improved environmental efficiency - Sustainable solutions within construction projects are becoming increasingly important. The compact size of mini rigs offers a smaller environmental impact. The T8000 and T12000 models have also been fitted with the latest Hatz 4H50TICD silent pack Euro stage five diesel engines. These engines ensure the rig has substantial power, while maintaining a low fuel input and emission output. Despite the small structure of the Cobras, the overall lower power-to-weight ratio enables enormous amounts of power and high torque to be produced. All of the Cobra machines have exceptional fuel efficiency offering a greener option. The vast majority of Piling Equipment Ltd’s mini rigs operate with Euro Stage IV or V engines meaning they are more efficient and more environmentally friendly than other machines. In addition to the engine itself, the mini piles used on-site require less concrete and steel than other piling systems, reducing the carbon footprint, along with the reduction in noise pollution and vibrations/disturbance to adjoining structures. This Cobra 500 was able to access a jobsite in a shopping mall. C&G The Cobra rigs also have adjustable rubber tracks enabling them to fit through doorways and gateways with ease.
