38 MAY 2022 WorldWide Drilling Resource® The “Idiots” Corner by “Billy Bob Smith” I have kept quiet for over two years, but enough is enough. As I look around the world, I am convinced the population of idiots is on a dramatic increase - in politics, business, education, and even religion. First, to make sure we are on the same page, here is a quick definition: Hypocrisy - a pretense of having a virtuous character, moral, or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess, follow, or would even consider having. At the root of hypocrisy is the desire for power over others. Self-interest is the most obvious reason for any of us to act like hypocrites. When people are questioned about why they act in conflict with their stated moral standards, many will say the personal costs are enough to outweigh the intention to act morally. Okay, here are a few real examples of hypocrisy in the past two years: 1 Our U.S. debt is soaring, and we continue to spend billions on people and countries that hate us. 1 Our government is supposed to be more transparent than ever and yet they don’t even know what the word means. 1 The government says Prosperity is a good thing, but it keeps promising handouts and government-sponsored financial security for certain groups of people. 1 Don’t control illegals crossing the southern border, but we need to control Americans with the legal right to own guns. 1 I don’t care if it’s school board members, college professors, CEOs of large companies, or even certain religious leaders - I am tired of the contradictions between what they say is good for us and what they do in their own private and even often public worlds. 1 We have to worry about emissions of fossil fuels and start driving electric cars, but certain folks still use private jets. 1 We all need to start eating less animal-based foods so the elites can have their backyard cookouts with the best steaks, chicken, and pork chops. 1 And finally, politicians who keep making promises they don’t really intend to keep or honor and most likely know are not possible anyway but, who knows, they got them elected. I really wanted to name names and give you dozens more examples, but out of respect for the privacy of certain individuals, I’ll let you fill in the blanks with names you feel might be represented by any of the previous or hundreds of other examples I could have shared. Am I the only one who has had enough of this garbage, or should I just suck it up, take it, and shut up?
