49 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® MAY 2013 VDMA Announces New Office in Brazil Adapted from a Press Release by VDMA The VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau - German Engineering Federation) announced they are opening an office in Sao Paulo, Brazil, giving the association an office in all of the BRIC states (Brazil, Russia, India, and China). Brazil has become very important for the German engineering sector during the past few years. More than a fourth of German exports are machines and equipment; especially materials handling technology, power transmission engineer- ing as well as food processing machinery and packaging machinery. After the USA, Germany is the most important machine supplier for this Latin-American country. The new Director Executive of VDMA Brazil, Thomas Junqeira Ayres Ulbrich, has both German and Brazilian roots. His mother’s family comes from Salvador, Bahia, and he grew up in Germany, study- ing in Bonn. He spent his internship in Rio de Janeiro. “The desire for a second country led me back to Brazil, together wi th the VDMA. I am looking forward to being able to support all of the German-Brazi l ian mechanical engineer- ing companies, and I will be glad to be at your disposal in... Sao Paulo and sometimes in Frankfurt as well,” said UIbrich. Dr. Hannes Hesse, executive direc- tor of the VDMA, also commented on Ulbrich’s appointment. “The VDMA is glad to have found a committed colleague who knows not only Brazil very well, but also the mechanical engineering sector with its special singularity.” VDMA Anuncia Nueva Oficina en Brasil Adaptado de un comunicado de prensa por VDMA La VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen y Anlagenbau - Federación de Ingeniería Alemana) anunció que están abriendo oficina en Sao Paulo, Brasil, dando a la asociación una oficina en todos los estados del BRIC (Brasil, Rusia, India, y China). Brasil se ha convertido en parte muy importante para el sector de la Ingeniería Hector Leos Translator Alemana en los pocos últimos años. Más de un cuarto de las exportaciones Alemanas son máquinas y equipo; espe- cialmente materiales para manejo de tecnología, ingeniería de transmisión de energía desde aparatos procesadores de alimentos a maquinaria para empa- ques.
