WorldWide Drilling Resource

48 MAY 2013 WorldWide Drilling Resource ® In Honor of Dale R. Moore 1941 ~ 2013 by Veronica I. “Ronnie” Jones Managing Publisher “We have no words that could ever express what we thought of Dale,” wrote Wendy Benny Grant on the con- dolences page for Dale. What better words could express such a feeling? No, there are none, and there are no words to help his family and friends during such a difficult time. Dale was the beloved husband of Donna (nee Lewis); loving father of Catherine (John) Anderson and John (Liane) Moore. Affectionately called “Grampie” by Samuel, Olivia, Hannah Courtney, Patrick, and Rachel. He was the brother of Arlene (Bill) Acorn, Marie (Walter) Houston, and Harold (Adele) Moore. We first heard of Dale’s passing from good friend Rocky Milano as he arrived at the New England Water Well Expo. He was deeply saddened and one could feel his pain as he told us. Rocky is seen below with Dale and John Moore during the 2010 Atlantic Water Well Convention. It always amazes me, even after all these years, how close-knit the drilling industry is. John sent an e-mail to me a few weeks after his dad died. John is much like his father with a heart of gold having such a welcoming smile every- time we saw him. He wanted to express to us how much his father thought of us here at WWDR and the work we do for the industry. I want to share some of the words he had for his dad, knowing he was still having a hard time not only thinking about him, but talking about him, was even more difficult a task for John. “It is hard for me to talk about Dad in a short paragraph. We Moore’s are kind of long winded anyway. His father, my namesake, John Moore, started the business [Moore Well Drilling, Inc.] in 1945 with his own homemade rigs. Dad grew up drilling. He was also a licensed pharmacist since the early 60’s. Drilling was his passion though, and we have been going to National Ground Water Association shows as long as I can remember. He was always looking for a better way to do things. He figured that if every show you went to you pick up a better way to do some- thing, it was worth it. He loved seeing all his old friends at the shows. We do have almost countless memories together. He was so good, and did so much for other people, and never, ever said anything about it.” As John continued, you could feel the pain, but all the love he has for his father. “I still can’t believe that he is gone. I still look out the window, expect- ing to see his black truck coming with a coffee for me, and whoever else was here. Never got himself one. I guess I was pretty lucky that I was able to work with him for 30 years. He was my best friend.” John didn’t think I would use what he called “rambling” - but we all have or will remember times such as those John has described and I felt it was impor- tant to share his thoughts with you. Over the years, we have had the pleasure of taking many photographs of Dale and of course his lovely wife, Donna. What better memories can we share? Photographs and some of the kind words of those who took the time to care and share on his condolences page. Please take a moment and share the celebration of a great man’s life on earth through these remembrances. And then, take another few, to send a note to the Moore family. “Dale was a gentleman, an honest busi- ness man, an example of a Christian disciple, a hard worker who mentored many a young man starting off on a business venture, and a finer individual you could not find!” Glenna Smith “A true gentleman, always a big smile, and made you feel like he really cared.” Ann McMurrer\Steve Gosnell “Well done Dale! A life well lived.” Allan and Pam Leard “I enjoyed our chats at the pharmacy and appreciated his friendly and helpful advice.” Winnifred & Gordon MacInnis “PEI has lost a great man., Dale was a friend to all who came through Cornwall Pharmacy and was a great humanitarian.” Barbara & Callum Joslin “...Always a smile, a chuckle and laugh- ling twinkling blue eyes. He cared about every one of his customers and treated them like family.” Wendy Benny Grant Lest we forget...
