Depending on how bad the leak is will determine how often the drive will turn on. Another way to use the drive is to choose Run Enable. Once again, you would set the internal setpoint pressure to whatever pressure you require for the sprinkler system. The difference now is the timer clock is connected to the drive on the input, and instead of the pres- sure dropping from the solenoid open- ing to turn the drive on, as soon as the input senses the signal, it turns the drive on. Whatever the internal set point pres- sure is, this is what the drive will be running at. So you might say they sound the same, but there is a difference. Now if there is a leak, the pump will not turn on because there is no input to tell it to turn on. Of course, if you have a leak, the system may lose its pre-charge and you might have to extend the Dry Run time so if the pressure is less than 10 psi, the drive doesn’t turn off on Dry Run. What if you require different pres- sures during your sprinkling cycle? Run Enable counts as one; then set the other input as External Setpoint and you have a second. Need a third? Remember there is a second input. You will need one timer to tell the Run Enable to turn the drive on, then another for your first External Setpoint, and a third for your second External Setpoint. Each of the External Setpoints are set for different pressures than the Run Enable. Another way to use Run Enable is a heat pump. Have fun thinking of more ways, and don’t be afraid to let me know.
