Although every experience is unique in one way or another, my wife Carol and I have also the added pleas- ure of meeting some of the greatest peo- ple in the world in our travels, which makes our water locating work especially satisfying. I’d like to share another recent water dowsing story. About six months ago, I received a call asking for assistance in locating a satisfactory groundwater supply in north- ern Minnesota. The property is located in an area where drilling at random has often proved to be unsuccessful. Being very familiar with it, I asked the caller if he was aware of the difficulties encoun- tered in acquiring sufficient groundwater supplies there. He said he was well aware of it, and it was the reason he was calling me. “You’ve located good wells for many of my neighbors in the past after they first drilled a number of dry holes,” he said, “and the drillers I talked to, told me to call you first and have you select a drilling site before they would begin to drill on my property.” I asked if he needed the well for an existing homesite, or if it was for a new home. “Oh no,” he replied, “I’m going to put up a big chicken barn and raise broiler chickens.” I told him he was going to need a good well for that kind of operation. “Oh yeah,” he said, “I know that. The company I’m contracting with tells me I need a good, reliable water source of 25 to 30 gallons a minute for the num- ber of birds I’ll be raising.” I said I’d be willing to do my best to try to help him, but in order for him to obtain that kind of volume, everything depended upon how freely the ground- water can pass through the geology in the water-bearing formation. He said he knew that, but I had been able to help a lot of his neighbors when they had problems finding good wells. Then I said to him, “What I’ve been able to do for your neighbors doesn’t help you one bit. What if God didn’t put the kind of water you need under your property?” I don’t think he heard my question, because he didn’t answer, and simply asked how soon we could come and try to help him. I told him I’d be will- ing to try to help him locate a satisfac- tory water supply, but can only find what God already put under the ground. He said he fully understood this, but the drilling contractors in the area told him we were always able to help locate good water sources for them in the past. Carol and I drove up to the property a few days later. What we found there, next month.
