WorldWide Drilling Resource

I first met Walter and his lovely “bride” Margaret at one of the Atlantic Water Wel l Association Conferences. He was a quiet man, who you immediately knew cared deeply for his wife, which I always admired him for. In the photos placed here, you will see, that shy, but lov- ing man. Walter was born in Port Elgin, New Brunswick, the son of the late Walter Sr. and Margaret (Hastings) Chappell. He married Margaret and they were blessed with 2 daughters, 3 sons, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was the owner and operator of Walter Chappell Well Drilling for over 59 years. Through these years, he and Margaret became great friends with other drilling profes- sionals and they spent winters in Florida. Margaret and Walter were inseparable, and she was his soul mate for 55 years. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Please join the WWDR Team in enjoying these photos. J -P and h i s bes t friend and wife Diane were easy to spot at those Atlantic Water Well Conferences. All you had to do was look for those smiling faces and listen for those bounds of laughter! Such a pleasant man to know. Sadly, J-P left our drilling industry at the young age of 75 on February 14, in Montreal, Quebec. He is survived by his wife Diane and sister Thérèse, as well as many friends both inside and outside the drilling industry. He was co-owner of ML Air, Inc. in Montreal. As Patti Josey put it so aptly, “Such a fine, fine gentleman. You could count on him in our trade show every year. He and his wife Diane made lots of trips to the East Coast to attend the Nova Scotia lobster dinners. Some of the best times and biggest laughs I’ve had in my lifetime...” J - P w i l l b e m i s s e d greatly, and we hope you wi l l enjoy these photos of his smiling face with fond r emembe r ance , as t he WWDR Team always will. Walter Rhodes Chappell, Jr. 7-29-1940 / 2-15-2015 Jean-Pierre “J-P” LeClaire 12-29-1939 / 2-14-2015 Lest we forget... It is truly at a time like this, going through thousands of photos of our long-time friends, trying to pick out just the right ones; is the hardest thing, I believe, a preparer of a memorium for two such great men has to do here at WorldWide Drilling Resource, Inc. We hope in some small way, this tribute to them, will ease a little of the pain their loved ones are feeling and to let them know Walter and J-P were truly loved throughout the world of drilling and beyond. Besides their love for drilling, another thing in common ~ two wonderful wives they leave behind. Walter is seen here accepting the distinguished W. E. “Buster” Brown Founders Award for excellence and dedication to the Nova Scotia Ground Water Association and Margaret at his side beaming with pride...
