Drilling Progress in Saskatchewan Adapted from Information by DEEP Earth Energy Production Corp. DEEP Earth Energy Production Corp.’s drilling and testing program is under- way. They plan to drill up to five stratigraphic wells, to further define the field’s geo- thermal reservoir parameters for the proposed power plant in Southeastern Saskatchewan, Canada. In August 2019, DEEP completed a flow and pressure buildup test on the Border-01 well to assess reservoir pressure and well deliverability. Pressure data affirmed the existence of fracture flow contributions sought after for geothermal projects, and the stimulated maximum production rate for this well supported the potential for an economically viable project. Following the flow and buildup test, a series of injectivity and fall-off tests were conducted, which further affirmed a significant portion of the fluid contribution pro- duced from Border-01 is sourced form a fractured reservoir system. After the tests were complete, the remaining brine in the tank farm was disposed into the well, which accepted the fluids at high rates, limited only to the capacity of the injection pump. This confirmed the reservoir’s capability to flow in both directions - to produce, as well as accept, injected fluids. The first of the new wells (Border-02A) was completed in December 2019. It was drilled from the same sur- face location as Border-01, directionally to the southwest, to a depth of 12,500 feet, with a bottom hole located 4900 feet from Border-01. Border-02B well was drilled to 12,700 feet, and 11,900 feet true vertical depth from the surface. It was drilled from the same wellbore as Border-02A as a whipstock, enabling more data to be acquired between it and Border-01, at a reduced cost compared to drilling a separate well from the surface. Border-02B exceeded the record depth of Border-01 by an additional 330 feet true vertical depth, making it the deepest well ever drilled in Saskatchewan. Border-03, -04, and -05 wells will be drilled with two separate rigs to com- plete the program in less time. This multiwell drilling program will greatly increase the confidence in the geological model, regional airborne magnetic data geological interpretation, and test recently acquired 3-D seismic data. It will achieve flow and injection testing to optimize the locations and design of full-sized production wells planned to be drilled later in 2020 and 2021. These current wells will also have significant value for monitoring the reservoir response during and after large-scale development required for a full geothermal field and power plant. 302-684-3197 FAX: 302-384-0643 142 Broadkill Rd. • Milton, DE 19968 www.atlantic-screen.com email: atlantic@ce.net Manufacturers of Slotted & Perforated Pipe ranging from ½” to 24” diameter Atlantic Screen & Mfg., Inc. • Well Rehab.
