Now we are able to offer future career options and challenge our students,” said Vince Dikaitis, principal at the school. “It’s a great opportunity for the students to excel in today’s world and to teach them the practical skills needed to be successful in the future.” The goal of the Trans Mountain Technology and Engineering Centre is to create a facility providing a range of STEM learning opportunities for students such as robotics, coding, programming, and graphics/media design. The center will provide opportunities for career development and industry partnerships for Parkland Composite and its students. “This donation demonstrates our ongoing commitment to support educational opportunities to communities along the pipeline,” said Lexa Hobenshield, manager of Lower Mainland and Community Investment for the company. “We are proud to partner with Parkland Composite High School to provide STEM opportunities to students.” Trans Mountain operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. It delivers approximately 300,000 barrels of petroleum products through more than 700 miles of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, and over 65 miles of pipelines in Washington state, every day.
